Polyacrylamide (abbreviated as PAM) is a polymer (-CH2CHCONH2-) formed from acrylamide subunits. It can be synthesized as a simple linear-chain structure or cross-linked. In the cross-linked form, the possibility of the monomer being present is reduced even further.
In oil exploration, the polyacrylamide are mainly used for drilling mud materials and improve aspects of oil recovery rate, widely used in well drilling, completion, cementing, fracturing, enhanced oil recovery and other mining operations in the oil field, with thickening, fluid loss, rheology control, gelation, diversion, profile control and other functions.
