The report finds the Taiwanese smartphone shipment volume grew 20.5 % year-on-year and reached around 86.4 million units in the first quarter of 2018, owing largely to the increasing demand for Xiaomi phones in emerging markets like India and Indonesia and the increase in shipments of Huawei and Apple. With Taiwanese branded vendors losing global traction, global EMS orders from Apple, Huawei, and Xiaomi - which have been the major growth driver of the Taiwanese smartphone industry - are expected to make an increasing contribution to bolstering the growth of the Taiwanese smartphone industry over the years.
