About Motorcycle Brake by Wire (BBW) System
By wire (BW) in the automotive industry is a technology borrowed from the field of aviation, where fly-by-wire systems (FBW) have been in use for some time. BW systems involve the use of electrical or electromechanical systems for carrying out vehicle functions, which have been traditionally achieved by mechanical linkages. The BBW system in motorcycles converts the hydraulic pressure generated by the rider's brake levers and pedal inputs into electronic signals, which then communicate to a control unit that decides on how much power to apply to front and rear wheels. A computer then calculates the front and the rear braking forces based on the rider's input.
