About Ethanolamines
ETAs are organic chemical compounds and refer to a viscous and colorless liquid with an odor similar to that of ammonia. ETAs comprise a group associated with amino alcohols that include doxylamine, carbinoxamine, dimenhydrinate, clemastine, and diphenhydramine. ETA is usually used in the process of alkalization of water in power plants including pressurized water reactors and nuclear power plants associated with steam cycles. The alkalization process is performed to control metal corrosion. ETA is preferred in these applications as it eliminates the accumulation of corrosion in crevices and steam generators owing to its volatility.
